About

A card-free way to pay in Nigeria

Taprail lets you add your bank cards once and approve everyday payments from your phone. We are building it in Lagos, for Nigeria.

What Taprail is

Taprail is an app for everyday money in Nigeria. You add the Nigerian debit or credit cards you already have and choose which one pays; on Android you can tap to pay at the till. Your Rail is a balance in your name with your own @handle, so people can pay you, and you can send money, pay bills or cash out to your bank. All in naira, and in English, Yorùbá, Hausa or Igbo.

How your money stays safe

Taprail is a technology service, not a bank. Every card payment is authorised by the bank that issued your card, in the usual way. Merchants and terminals never see your real card number, and paying or managing a card asks for your face, fingerprint or device passcode. Your Rail is a balance in your name, provided by a regulated banking partner, and you can only cash it out to a bank account in your own name. To move money safely we work with established, regulated payment partners; your full card details are tokenised and kept with them, never stored by Taprail. You can read more in our Privacy Policy.

What we believe

Honesty

We say what the app does and does not do. No overselling, and no fine print that contradicts the headline.

Security first

Your card details stay with your bank, and you stay in control of every card from your phone.

Simplicity

Paying should take one tap. Everything else should get out of the way.

Who builds Taprail
